Good News for all of you chicken lovers, thumb suckers, and finger nail bitters... KFC has just upped their game and released a nail polish that is literally “Finger Licking Good”. I know, I know -- it totally sounds like a joke, but it’s not. That infamous phrase is no longer just another catchy tag line, but in fact an edible nail polish.
KFC worked with food technologists at McCormick, the spice company that provides KFC's secret mix of 11 secret herbs and spices, to create the nail polishes for KFC Hong Kong. The polish flavors are sourced from natural ingredients and based on the brand's two favorite recipes, Original and Hot & Spicy. This equates to the colors of sparkly orange for hot sauce, and a glitter-flecked nude for original that dry with a glossy coat that’s similar to normal nail polish.
So I guess this means that you can officially get some of that chicken flavor without the built in guilt or grease factors. Although, I wouldn’t suggest adding this to your meal plan or taking it to the head like a shot of liquor. At the end of the day it’s still nail polish, and not meant for mass consumption. You’re supposed to place the product on your nails, let it dry, and then lick until you’ve had your heart’s desire. Think of it more as a bonus for when you stick your fingers in your mouth similar to that of when you lick your lips to enjoy flavored lip balm/lip gloss.
I’m sure that if Willy Wonka would have thought of this first, there wouldn’t be any question as to its tasteful validity... but since everything tastes like chicken anyway, it’s sort of like the Everlasting Gobstopper of nail polish… or is it?
I do wonder how many licks it takes until it loses it flavor? Sadly, it’s only being offered as a limited promotional run in the KFC Hong Kong market. However, if it catches on, you can expect mass distribution. I’m not a fan of chicken… but I can certainly tell you that the nail polish fanatic and foodie in me is definitely intrigued by this campaign.
