Times are a changing and it’s a great day for Plus Size Fashion!!! Runway designer Prabal Gurung has teamed up with mega retailer Lane Bryant for an exclusive plus size collection. Prabal's words... and I quote “My goal was to celebrate an assured woman.” Um... I think he totally delivered on that.
Some of you may have seen his work and not even realize that he was the person responsible for the fashionable look. Well trust me when I tell you that he is more than qualified for the job, LOL. Having created designs have been worn by former first lady Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton and Oprah Winfrey.
I went through the Lane Bryant Look Book, and I have to admit that I instantly fell in love with the collection. Like YESSSS, he gets it!!! These fashionable looks are stylish, trendy, and flattering for a curvy woman. It’s always a winning day when you find a designer brave enough to embrace the challenge of creating looks that include the Plus Size Woman.
This collaboration is limited collection and will certainly sell out. Prices range from $88 - $398 (USD) depending on the look. The collection officially launched on February 27, 2017, and I tried to get my “dress me” moment on at not one, but two Lane Bryant locations with no success. It hadn’t come in yet and they weren’t even sure if was going to come in. The truth of the matter is that not every location is going to carry it, BUT you can always buy it online. Thank You Internet! If you know like I know, Lane Bryant’s online sales game is crushing it. There’s a reason why the Plus Size fashion industry is worth over 20 billion dollars and growing... There are a lot of Plus Size Women who love fashion and when retailers/designers listen - we all win.
Prabal Gurung is a game-changer for plus size fashion and he's now in the exclusive club of label designers such as Isabel Toledo, Christian Siriano, Melissa McCarthy, and Sophie Theallet that create with us big girls in mind. I'm sure that he will prove to be a Fashion Junkies dream. I already see a couple of must haves and we're just getting started.
