I thought the title to this piece was befitting to the situation, because to be quite honest.... it's taken me some time to get here... but I'm here! So Yeah.... "Say Word... I Act Now". What do you think modeling is? Each time you get dressed up and step in front of a camera or on to a runway you're putting on an "act". Your job is to help sell something with just your body language.
Ding... Ding... Ding... Modeling is just one form of Acting. For me it was just the next step on my personal journey. I'm continuously working on leveling up because life is about personal evolution. You can't put me in a box, and don't ever expect for me to be just one thing because I'm so much more than that! As I grow older, and "find the time" to "do me", I press play on something that I've always wanted to do. There is no guidebook on how to live my best life... I'm building my legacy as I go, and quite frankly I think my book is a filled with tons Say Word moments, LOL.
I have to laugh... because this has been a long time coming. I admit that it took me a while to get here... but, I'm here - and to quite honest - Acting is a lot harder than it looks. When done right... it looks natural, believable, and fools others into thinking that this craft is easy.
I hung out in the shallow end of the pool by Vlogging, and that made me thirsty for more. However, the only way to have more is to do more. So with that being said, I am so proud to announce that my acting debut will be in "L'Artiste. It's French" a new stage play by Joi Banks in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
It's a new kind of play that's for entrepreneurs, dreamers, fashion lovers, and of course artists. After all... I am an Art Junkie in real life anyway, LOL.
About The Play: Zena King (Janelle Richardson) is a sophisticated millennial entrepreneur who quit Corporate America and risked it all to fulfill her dreams of starting her own branding agency with her fun-loving college bestie Jacqueline Jones (LaTonia Robinson), and friends in a beautiful office downtown by the water. When the ladies get some news about big changes coming to Downtown things start to look bleak for their young small business...
About The Fashion: The Model in me is super excited because this play also features the work of some of Tampa's local design talent: ECR Designs, Anaise Valcour, and The Style Lab 5508 just to name a few. Yes honey, the cast is going to be dressed to impress!
About The Trailer: Just a little back story to some of the conversations and jokes that will be had during the play. Spoiler Alert: Sorry, I'm not giving away the plays plot because I want you to come out and see the show.
Tickets are on sale now for "L'Artiste. It's French" at all Ticketmaster outlets and online.
