I'm about to keep it all the way 100 with ya'll.... I have loved Wonder Woman since I was a little girl and still do! I'm not going to pretend that we don't have a long standing relationship, because we do, LOL.
Although Wonder Woman may be a fictional comic book character there is still much to learn, admire, and takeaway from the most famous heroine of all time. While I may be only human, I still strive for greatness and in my own special way... I am my own version of Wonder Woman. I am an educated woman capable of being and doing more than one thing at a time. I will forever evolve because that's what growth is all about. I am more than one thing and I have many different talents, desires, strengths, etc.
Being a plus size woman also means that I have to be even more diligent when it comes to finding clothing that fits my body, my style, and my budget. Although the fashion industry is finally expanding to provide more clothing options, there is still a limit to what types of choices are available to us. At this point in my life I am going for grown and sexy. In this particular case I didn't want a POP culture driven style that was based on childish imagery or costumeee just because it's attached to a fictional character. NEWSFLASH... all those comic book -- cartoon -- gamer kids have grown up and although we still like the fun stuff, that doesn't necessarily mean that we always want to look like a kid, because we're not -- just at heart.
I've got a passion for fashion and when I found this amazing fabric with the Wonder Woman logo, I decided to curate a couture look that is just as BOLD as I am! Your Girl leveled up her personal style in this royal blue 70's inspired oversized collar blouse with star buttons and three quarter sleeves. The midi pencil skirt filled with a repetitive print of the Wonder Woman logo in metallic gold, and I accessorized with a matching clutch that is trimmed in gold with a blue satin lining. Yazzzz Honey!!! BOOM! POW! BLAM! SLAY! I am taking no prisoners in this look, LOL.
If I can't find what I want on the rack or online -- I'll just have it made. Why wait? If there is no lane, then create a lane. In this case I just worked closely with a local designer (shout out to Gloria), to develop some pieces that expressed my fashion personality. This way, what I want and it fits my curves perfectly!
Style Fact: The great thing about accessories is that they are interchangeable pieces that can be worn with other looks and have a very long style life. So even when I am no longer able to strut my stuff in this blouse and skirt, the clutch will live on.
Always remember.... don't be afraid to Be Bold and Do You!
